There are many restaurants but mostly franchise fast food. However, I manged to find one with good reviews. We had a little hard time to find the entrance but it turned out that the restaurant is run by the hostel with the same name. At first it looked like a hamburger house so I worried that it was a wrong choice. It looks modern and trendy not like the ones we visited so far. It is located underground but still cozy and bright thanks to the big windows. It is free from 19:00 on Mondays. Guernica by Pablo Picasso is most popular. 2022-09-05 MON I have thought that there are more valuable activities such as sitting at a cafe than visiting museums, unless I have longer vacation. However, I've changed my mind and decided to check out art works if it is one of the so-called masterpieces, especially it is free like 19~21PM in Museum Reina Sofia. But I still didn't want to wait in a long queue. Luckily, our hotel,  SLEEP'N Atocha is in the very next block, so I could check how it was. I arrived around 18:30 and there were only 30~40 people waiting. It is said that you need 3 hours to look around but you can just spend a full day if you have enough time. 2022-09-05 MON Today, the only fixed schedule was Museum Reina  Sofia at 19:00 when it opens for free, so we decided to spend the time in the Parque del Retiro before that. Small buildings with little balconies make somewhat exotic scene, at least to me. The iconic giant wall of the Caixa Forum Madrid.  The parque del Retrio is so hugh that it has many entrances. Our hotel is located in the south-west of the park, so we got in through the gate near the Real Jardin Botanico. The first scene was not that impressive, but it was just very end of the huge park. We loved paella, jamon, and sangria! 2022-09-05 MON There are chances you can enter some of the museums in Madrid for free. In case of the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, it's 12~16 on Mondays. However, it was a little late for this one but could go to the Museum Reina Sofia later. The Museum Reina Sofia is near our hotel, SLEEP'N Atocha . We had lunch at this Tapas restaurant, Mas Al Sur, that was at the top of my search results of the restaurants near the hotel. Unfortunately, the outdoor tables were all occupied, so we took the on near the entrance instead. The atmosphere is like a pub.  Wines are quite cheap, especially compared to Barcelona.
