If your flight arrives late night
Our flight arrived late and it was almost midnight. So I decided to stay near the airport for 1 night, and I could book this hotel with reasonable price. There is free shuttle service from/to the airport, and it is easy to find. There is a specific parking area where the nearby hotels shuttles stop. A dozen of hotels share 3 parking slots, so it is hard to miss yours. I was satisfied with overall services, except that there was no breakfast buffet, which is probably temporary due to Christmas season.
늦게 도착할 경우 유용한 호텔
우리 항공편이 거의 자정 가까이 도착하는 일정이라서 공항 근처에서 하루 묵고 시내로 이동하기로 했다. 공항 근처 호텔을 검색해 봤고 이 호텔이 비교적 저렴한 가격에 후기가 우수해서 예약하게 되었다. 공항에서 무료 셔틀 서비스가 있는데, 공항 근처 호텔들을 위한 주차공간이 따로 있어서 셔틀 찾는건 어려비 않았다. 서비스는 대체로 만족스러웠다. 다만 조식 뷔페가 제공되지 않았는데 크리스마스 시즌에만 일시적으로 그런 것일 수도 있다.
Our flight arrives after 10 PM so I booked a hotel near the airport. Traveling again with your backs after long flight is not a good idea, especially when you are accompanied with your wife.
공항 도착 시간이 10시 이후라 공항 근처의 호텔을 예약해뒀다. 애틀랜타는 초행이기도 하고 (지금까지 대부분 초행이긴 했지만) 그 밤에 긴 비행 후 가방을 끌고 (그분과 함께) 또 호텔을 찾는건 자살행위다.
There was a free shuttle service, so we could arrive shortly. My brain was not working American way yet, so I forgot to tip the driver who helped us our bags. The shuttle service runs from 4 AM every 20 minutes.
무료 셔틀 서비스가 있어서 금방 도착했다. 아직 미국 팁 문화가 머리에 탑재되기 전이라 짐 싣는걸 도와준 기사님에게 팁을 주는걸 깜빡했다. 미국에서는 항상 팁 준비를 해두자. 무료 셔틀의 경우 팁을 줘야 한다는 의견가 주지 않아도 된다는 의견이 다르게 나오는데, 기사가 짐 싣고 내리는걸 도와준 경우 가방 하나에 1~2불 정도 주는 것이 정설인 것 같다. 셔틀 서비스는 오전 4시부터 20분 간격이라고 한다.
Because I was only concerning our main destination - Lindy Focus, it was much later that it will be a holiday season. In Korea, Christmas is just one day thing, mostly for couples, but it's more about family gathering, so everything is closed down.
린디포커스 갈 생각만 하고 있어서 미국에서는 크리스마스에 모든 상점이 닫는다는걸 간과했다. 호텔이나 일부 식당은 열었지만, 주요 관광지는 크리스마스 이브에도 닫는 곳이 많았다.
I brought a few hundred coins that was left from the previous travel, so this is where I spent some of them. Later, a nice lady at a mall changed all the coins I had.
외국 동전은 금방 계산해서 쓰기 어렵다보니 지난 여행에서 남은 동전 수백개를 다시 가져왔다. 그리고 자판기에서 조금씩 소진하면서도 이걸 언제 다 쓰나 싶었는데, 나중에 친절한 마트 종업원 아주머니가 모두 지폐로 교환해 주셨다.

이렇게 뭐든 사진으로 남겨놓으면 방번호가 생각 안날 때라던가 도움 될 때가 많다.

When I was younger, I didn't have anything like jet lag, so I just woke up and had a regular day right away. Now I couldn't sleep much so woke up quite early and headed for early breakfast.
어렸을 때는 시차고 뭐고 없어서 몇 시에 도착하던 자고 일어나서 바로 일상생활이 가능했는데, 이제는 잠도 잘 안오고 피곤한 상태로 일찍 일어나 버린다. 그런데 배는 또 고파서 일찍 일어난 감에 이른 조식 먹으로 출발.
The restaurant is spacious and clean. The restaurant opens at 5:30.
식당은 널찍하고 깔끔하다. 아침 식사는 5시반부터다.
They used to serve breakfast buffet like others but didn't have it then. I asked why and they said it's because they don't have enough customers. I guess it' because of the Christmas season.
원래는 다른 호텔들처럼 조식 뷔페가 있는데 그 날은 주문을 따로 해야했다. 이유를 물었더니 손님이 많지 않아서라고. 최근에 그렇다는건지 그날만 그렇다는건지 확실하진 않은데, 아마 크리스마스 시즌이라 그럴 수도 있을 것 같다.
The fruit is still eat-as-much-as-you-can. I normally eat fruit after meal but I had to wait for my food anyway.
과일이랑 음료 등은 마음대로 가져도 먹는 시스템이라 음식 나오기 전까지 과일로 요기를 했다.

빵이 있었지만 나랑은 관계 없고.

I don't eat bread much, but didn't have much choice. However, bagel with cream cheese reminded me of the ARMY life.
보통은 빵을 안먹지만 별 수가 없었다. 오랜만에 베이글 구워서 크림치즈 발라 먹으니 군대 시절 생각이 났다.

우리가 첫 손님이라 아무도 없다. 식탐 있는 아시안이라고 생각할지 모르지만 아니다. 늙어서 일찍 깬것 뿐이다.
They still give you a bill but you can pay with the coupons.
청구서가 나오긴 하는데 쿠폰으로 지불하면 된다.
We checked out how much other customers pay for the tip and just did exactly same.
팁을 얼마나줘야 몰라서 옆 테이블 컨닝했다. 무료 조식이더라도 팁은 줘야하고, 둘이 5불 정도면 되나보다. 사실 우리 담당 서버 표정이 별로라서 팁을 안줄까 하다 그냥 기분이다 하고 줬는데, 팁 받고 나서 표정이 확 변하더라.

The room looks old-fashioned but seems to be renovated recently.
좀 오래되어 보이긴 하는데 최근에 한 번 리노베이션 한 듯 하다.
Now it seems that every hotel room is equipped capsule coffee machine. Even the old inn in Asheville had one in our room.
요즘엔 방마다 캡슐 커피를 두는게 추세인가보다. 애쉬빌 숙소가 좀 허름한 편이었는데 거기도 있더라.
