[Taipei] Easy Card

Easy card is a public transportation card with which you can ride bus, metro, and etc. It is a MUST HAVE when you travel to Taiwan unless you have a travel card with unlimited rides.

이지카드는 버스, 지하철 등을 탈 수 있는 충전식 카드이다. 교통 기능이 포함된 트래블카드가 없다면 타이페이 여행에서 필수품이다.

You can purchase Easy Card at every MRT station. However, I took a bus from the airport, so I bought mine at the bus terminal in the airport. There is a kisok near ticket office. It takes only 100NT bill, so you need to change at the ticket office first. The card itself costs 100NT and you need to add up after purchase. Each time add up 100NT until it is charged with the amount you need. I added up 400NT and it was just enough for my trip.

이지카드는 모든 지하철역에서 구매가능한데 나는 버스를 타고 공항에서 시내로 이동해서 버스터미널에서 구입했다. 버스터미널 매표소 근처에 자판기에서 구매할 수 있는데 100NT 지폐만 받아서 잔돈이 없을 경우 매표소에서 바꾸면 된다. 처음 구매하면 잔액이 0이라서 충전해서 사용해야 하는데 1회에 100NT 밖에 충전할 수 없어서 필요한만큼 여러번 충전해야 한다. 나는 400 충전해서 여행하는 동안 거의 딱 맞게 사용했다.

If you have the Easy Card, you can just tag it to the reader. You should tag when you get on the bus or when you get off, and there is a sign near the driver's seat how you should do it. '上' means you tag when getting on, and '下' when off. It took 115 for the bus from the airport, which seems to be discounted from 125 because of the Easy Card.

다른 승객들은 매표소에서 표를 많이 끊던데, 이지카드가 있으면 그럴 필요 없이 우리나라 교통카드처럼 태그하면 된다. 탈 때 태그하는 방식과 내릴 때 태그하는 방식 두 가지가 섞여 있는데 탈 때 운전석 윗쪽을 잘보면 '上', '下'로 어떻게 해야할지 표시되어 있다. 공항에서 탄 버스는 원래 가격이 125인데 이지카드 덕분에 할인해서 115가 차감된 듯 하다.

You can pay for WIFI in the bus. 버스에서 와이파이를 유료로 사용할 수 있다. 나는 로밍해서 불필요. 로밍이 최고.

The route from the airport to the downtown. It says that it'll take 37 minutes. You can also take MRT or high-speed train, but in my case, bus was better because it just stops near my hotel.

공항에서 시내로 가는 경로. 대략 40분 정도 소요된다. MRT나 고속열차로 들어가는 방법도 있기는 한데 내 경우는 버스 정류장이 호텔 근처라 환승할 필요가 업어서 버스가 편리했다.

You can check the current balance with smartphone app but only in Chinese.
이지카드 앱이 있어서 잔액을 확인할 수 있긴 한데 중국어만 지원한다. 한자를 조금 알면 블로그 등의 지원을 받아서 사용 가능하다.

It was not that cold but it seemed to be still cold for Taiwanese.
날씨가 요상하긴 해도 그렇게 추운 정도는 아닌데 더운 지방 사람들이라 그런지 패딩이 많다. 난 반팔.

There are two options for public transportation: Fun Pass and Easy Card. Based on my calculation, Easy card is better unless you'd take bus or MRT more than 6 times a day. Furthermore, you cannot take buses from/to the airport with Fun Pass.

무제한 교통카드인 Fun Pass와 충전방식인 Easy Card 중 고민했는데, 결론은 하루에 대중교통을 여러번(아마 6-7번 이상?) 탈게 아니면 Easy Card가 낫다. 그리고 Fun Pass는 1819와 같은 공항버스는 사용이 안된다. Easy Card 보증금 100이 반환이 안된다, 원래는 되는데 안되는 걸로 바뀌었단다, 공항에서 사면 안되고 MRT역에서 사면 된다는 말도 있고, 마지막 탑승시 모자란 금액을 보증금에서 낼 수 있다 등 말도 있는데, 나는 공항에서 살 수 밖에 없는 상황이었다.
