After all the parties are over, our flight leaves from Greenville airport early morning. I tried to find any transportation from Asheville, but couldn't help but ask Sherry for a ride. Sherry's son kindly drove us to the airport.
파티가 모두 끝나고 우리 비행기는 애쉬빌에서 1시간 정도 떨어진 그린빌에서 이른 아침에 출발한다. 이동수단을 찾아봤으나 방법이 없어서 결국 셰리한테 부탁할 수 밖에 없었다. 셰리 아들이 친절하게 우리를 공항까지 태워주었다.
I used Sherry's car almost for a week, but didn't have to fuel the gas. However, in Korea, you just tell the staff how much you want and pay.
셰리가 빌려준 차를 거의 일주일 동안 몰았지만 단거리라 그런지 가스를 채울 필요가 없었다. 셀프 주유가 대부분이라 나름 공부도 하고 했는데, 시행착오를 겪거나 괜히 차에 문제라도 생기는 것보단 왠지 다행이었다.

Our original plan was to fly from Greenville to Houston,
원래 여정은 그린빌에서 휴스턴으로 가고,
and to Narita,
나리타를 거쳐서,
and to Inchone,
인천으로 가는거였는데,
but this happened. Because of the unclear air condition in Houston, our flight delayed for an hour, which was critical for our short transfer.
왜 슬픈 예감은 틀린 적이 없나. 휴스턴 기상 문제로 1시간이 지연되었는데 환승이 짧아서 나리타 가는 비행기를 못 타게 된거다.
I sensed that I should move fast, so I asked the staff at the desk if I can take other flights back to Korea. She kindly took time to find us alternative flights and changed our seats to the first row just in case, so I just left comments to United Airlines:
"I want to let you know that one of you staff, Lisa, who was working at the gate, kindly helped us when the flight was delayed.
Because of the delay, we missed our flight from Houston to Narita, and to Inchon.
She was so nice and helped us to find other flights and even told us the other options and tips we can try."
공항에서 위급한 상황이 일어나면 항상 빨리 생각하고 움직여야 한다. 직원에게 우리의 환승상황을 알리고 방법을 물었더니, 꽤 오랜 시간을 들여서 대체항공편을 찾아봐 주고, 혹시 휴스턴발 비행기를 탈 수 있을지 몰라 자리도 첫번째로 바꿔주었다. 그 외에 휴스턴에서 어떻게 해야 할지 알려주는 등, 여러번의 여행 경험에서 가장 친절했던 직원이라 유나이티드 항공사에 칭찬을 남겼다. 뭔가 보너스 같은거라도 받았으면 좋겠다. 그리고 그렇게 오랜 시간을 나에게 할애하는 동안, 낌새가 이상함을 눈치챈 다른 승객들이 내 뒤로 줄을 서기 시작했다. 제일 먼저 물어보지 않았으면 대체 항공편도 못구하고 비행기를 탔을지도 모른다.
