(Valletta-Gozo) Gozo Highspeed ★
Liesse, Il-Belt Valletta, Malta
- Do NOT use this unless you're 100% seasick free. More than 10 people vomitted on our ride.
The worst transport ever.
A day for Gozo. Gozo is the second biggest island of Malta, and it's about 1/3 of the main island, that we just call as Malta. There seems to exist many differences between these two islands historically, cultrurally, racialy, and so on. Therefore it is recommended to stay over more than a night in Gozo to cover at least some of the major areas, but she hates changing hotels/cities too often. After Malta, we'll also visit Catania and Naples, so we've just reached the limit. In conclusion, it's a day trip to Gozo.
Whenever we take a bus to Valletta, we pass by this beautiful bay area but never had a chance to look around. And there are so many other places we've missed, so we'll definitely come back to Malta in a few years.
It says,
- Gozo resident must present ID cards when purchasing tickets (for discounts, I guess)
- Please be advised that ticket sales and boarding will be closed 2 min prior every departure
- ATTENTION!!! 09/09/2024 Due to unfavorable weather conditions, last trip from Valletta will be at 19:45 and last trip from Mgarr will be at 20:45 tomorrow 10/09/2024 all voyages will be cancelled.
So we took the boat in the second worst weather, which explains a lot about our experience.
I hate chaing plans, so I ALWAYS book in advance, with exceptions when I have no idea how much time she needs to get ready. Also because this ferry terminal is right next to dghajsa stand, so I've already checked if reservation is mandatory, but the staff said no.
BOOK: ferry to Gozo gozohighspeed 10:45?~11:30 > 9:15 > 20:45~21:30~~
We wanted to take the front row for the view, but two women took extra seats for their bags, so no two seats in a row left.
Until now, I was only excited wondering how fast they're talking about when they named the boat "highspeend".
And the nightmare in daytime began. The boat jumped with the waves, headed down and kept doing it all the way to Gozo. At first it was fun just like riding a rollercoaster, but I didn't know what it's like riding a rollercoast for 45 minutes. Those two women at the front row were the first ones who ran to the toilet to vomit. There were sound of voming everywhere, not only sound but also smell, and it even made the situation worse because it's contagious. I vaguely counted and more than 10 people had to check what they ate before boarding.
THANKGS GOD THE BOAT STOPPED.
She also failed and I was this close to use this paper bag but just saved by the bell. When passengers were landing, many were frowning with pain, some cried, and one man barely walked so he needed his friend's help. It was just like a disaster movie.
The world was beautiful,
and Ii threw away the return ticket of this devil.
Before leaving the terminal I checked the timetable of another SLOW ferry to the nearest port because there is no way to ride the boat again.
