- Best restaurant in the area. Tartar and mussels recommended. One free cocktail in happy hour.
Dinner near our hotel after coming back from Rabat.
There're so many restaurants along Sliema Promenade that it's hard to tell which is good. I just picked one by one follwing the reviews from TripAdvisor and Google, and found this hidden gem as in that they have less customers and calmer atmosphere.
Like the famous quote from a Korean movie, "drink Maldiv in Mojito"

It was still happy hour when I can have free extra cocktail. Refreshing!

It doesn't mean I don't drink.
Feel like California?
Gourmet Mussels 15 |
It was mussel soup with pork, and I didn't know they match so well. Furthermore, because we focused on seafodd, it's been a while since the last time I had meat, so I even felt dizzy from joy. The pork, that I can't find from the photo now, was well cooked with nice texture.

And the best part of the restaurant.
The staff, probably the owner, chopped tartar so that we can eat easily. His movement was so fancy that it was more like a performance. Actually we came back later and ordered the same but the same staff was busy with some kind of trouble with the restaurant next door.
As he suggested.
Basically I love tartar, but this is the one of the best I've ever had.
Pricesless.
But there is.

After retrung from the day trip to Gozo, we still couldn't finish our last day without dining in our favorite restaurant in Malta.

Oh yes, good choice.
I didn't have much expectation for any kind of platter but this dish was really good in that all the ingredints are still distinguishable in soup and well blended each other. Calamari had nice smoky flavor and fish skin was chewy.
Seafood platter in pasta sauce seems to be a good idea.

Last time we loved this salmon tarar, expecially the way the owner chopped and served, so ordered it again. However, he was busy with arguing with the restaurant next door. It was pretty serious and the problem itself didn't seem to be clearly sovled, but their attitude of finishing it with hugging was impressive. Once the strret became the peaceful, the owner from Ankara, Turkey, came back to our table and had a small talk. A lesson learned: not too much squeezed lemon on tartar.
