(Palma) Catedral-Basílica de Santa María de Mallorca ★★★★★
Plaça de la Seu, s/n, Centre, 07001 Palma, Illes Balears, Spain
- The landmark of Palma, beautiful both day and night. The best view is from Parc de la Mar.
The landmark of Palma.
After we returned from Soller, I finally had a chance to try the trasport card. There was a kiosk in front of the train station, so I've purchased the 10 journey credit urban. However I was a little panicked when the outlet gave me only the receipt. A person behind us helped me to pick up the card from another one at the bottom, which was new to me though.
10 journey credit costs 15 euros instead of 2 x 10 = 20 euros. Also it can be shared with other people, so it's mostly more cost-effective. For example, if you are traveling in a group of 2 people and you think you may take buese more than 3 times, 10 jourey credit is better. The more flexible way is just to use 10 journey credit no matter what, if you don't care about small extra expenses when travelling.
We decided to walk before taking the bus back to our hotel.
Pl. Major reminded me of Pl. Reial near La Ramba in Barcelona. Probably a common architecture of plaza in Spain.
The cathedral was so big that zooming in was the only way to captre the enitre building.
I thought that the water beteen the cathedral and the park was river or something but does not exist in the Google Maps, which probably means that it's artificial.
The church is so big and bright that it could be seen clearly from a few blocks away.
While wandering more, we've randomly encountered this memorial for Ahn Eak-tai, the composer of Korean national anthem. I was curious why this is in Mallorca, Spain, and it turned out that he migrated to Spain and worked as a orchestra condutor here in Mallorca.
Shopping in the neighbor.
