(Bangkok) train to Hua Hin

In order to take the train to Hua Hin, we checked out from the hotel early in the morning. It was about 10 minutes to the Hua Lamphong train station by a cab. There was a restaurant near the station that open early but we didn't have enough time for breakfast.

The station was quite big and seemed old.

I checked the platform first. It was Special Express to Surat Thani, Platform 7, departing at 7:50.

I also checked how far the platform is but it was right behind the gate.

We bought some food to eat in the train. It was said that the train ticket includes complimentary MRE but we were too hungry to take the risk.

There was a couple of backpackers with huge backpacks, probably traveling around Thailand, or multiple countries for a long time. Koreans must have worn all kinds of hi-tech sportswear, or at least comfy pants, but she was wearing a feminine dress, that must be one of the cultural differences.

Our train to Hua Hin. You can book trains or buses online, and https://12go.co seems to be only website available. Buses can be booked more than a month earlier but the registration for trains activated 3~4 days before the departure.

Probably the system assigns seats from the front, and I was ok with it. The room for legs were enough. 

The toilet was ok to me, but didn't want to recommend to her.

Eating in a train is one of the fun parts of traveling. I don't understand why people prefer buses. 

It was true that they give you complimentary food, and I was yet ready for another round.

The package includes everything even cookies for dessert, and it reminded me of U.S. MREs I used to eat in the military.

Because Hua Hin is not the final destination of this train, I checked where to get off with Google Map.

I remembered the building form some websites about Hua Hin. Hua Hin was the royal family's vacation area. I think that's why they have this cute station.

Toilet was not free though. I think that was only time I paid for toilet while we were in Thailand.

Going back to Bangkok on a train.

We booked a Tuktuk with 100 from the hotel to the train station. It is much more expensive than grab, but I just wanted give it a try. However, she didn't like it because of the wind and dust.

The departure time was delayed from 16:23 to 16:52. I think it's the reason why people prefer buses especially if they are in tight schedule. However, we're gonna stay in Bangkok a few more days and we don't have other plans but dinner, so didn't care that much.

They were selling some snack from the booth along the platform.

The attendants helped passengers with bags one by one, which is quit high level of service compared to the average level. On the other hand, Korean customers request all kinds of services, but we don't have this kind of help in Korean train stations.

Back to Bangkok.

Took a taxi fro here. We mostly used grabs and this was our second time of taxis, but there was no uncomfortable experiences like overcharging.
